I wanted to let you know how much we liked and appreciated the house. We’ve rented houses all over the UK and Europe, and Afallon was our favourite. It was clearly a home and thoughtfully configured so everyone could have their own space or come together. It was particularly nice that there was room for beach gear and walking shoes (verandah) while all the binoculars, bird books, computers etc were kept in the games room. We found the kitchen extremely well-equipped (so few houses have aprons … ) and we made good use of the garden. My husband was a big fan of your showers, which is high praise from an American. BTW the Afallon website is excellent. The floor plans are particularly helpful.
Mrs C. B. and family, Washington DC.
This week has been one of the best holidays ever. The area is outstanding and the house is perfect. Thanks so much!

Spent with relatives over from Australia. It was a real family occasion which has not happened for a number of years. Your lovely house enabled us to have a wonderful stay, whilst allowing peace and quiet if needed, due to the spacious rooms. We arrived through Storm Barbara, but once here we fell in love with the house and its location, not forgetting the views. All in all, it could not have been better. Many many thanks Liz.
Roger M and party of 11.
What a fantastic house and location! The house is supplied with absolutely everything anyone might want. All in perfect order, amazing views, fabulous walks. We felt at home immediately. Wonderful. Thank you

November long weekend 2016
What an amazing house this is! every home comfort you could possibly need and the views are to die for. We had an extended weekend (large group of friends) who loved every minute and did not want to go home, so much so already booked for next summer. That in itself speaks volumes. We would all recommend Afallon 100%. Fabulous house, and Liz the owner couldn’t be more helpful.
Deborah McK and friends
Prior to arrival, excellent communication and information received from Liz the owner. Travelled with a group of 9 friends and a baby and the house was more than spacious for all of us. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and even the small touches like milk in the fridge made you feel even more welcome. The weather was not on our side for the stay, but there was plenty to do within the house, with games and books readily available Would highly recommend this home for a family get together.
September long weekend 2016
Nine people arrived as strangers, nine friends left on Monday morning. This house played its part in the success of that.
Despite my concerns about strangers having to share bathrooms, it worked out really well. The guests loved the house, they all slept very well, and we all marvelled how well equipped the kitchen was. A small log fire on Saturday and Sunday evenings were the cherry on the cake.
I asked people for feedback on the question of what they might have preferred, to be in Afallon or in a hotel with the benefits of being en-suite? They all enthusiastically said, they would choose Afallon and the comfort it affords.
A weekend ‘Walking in the Footsteps of RS Thomas’ organised through www.journeying.co.uk by SF and SD.
We have been staying here for many many years. Last year we decided to change and visit somewhere else. We spent 2 whole weeks wishing we were back at Afallon – and now we are!
Two glorious weeks, the sun shone and surprisingly the wind, which is normally constant…..didn’t blow quite so vociferously!
Beautiful views, glorious beaches, walks and scenery. We love this area and this house even more…..can’t wait to be back in 2017!! (Thanks Anna, I really appreciate what you have said, and that you are back again! – Liz x)
The G family, North London.
We have been staying in the area for 40 years now. Your house is beautiful and somewhere we always wanted to stay. We loved it. Plenty of space to get lost in!
The W, H and W families, Golborne and Ashton-in-Makerfied
Wonderful house! So homely with everything we needed – thank you for your incredible attention to detail. Beautiful garden for children and dogs. Had a BBq and the area surrounding it was just the job for sitting with friends and family on a warm summer’s evening. Thank you Liz and family.
Mrs H and extended famiies, Torquay.
We have had a marvellous week! Beautiful, well-appointed and well-equipped home from home. We have had a fantastic family holiday and the weather has been so kind to us. I have stayed in houses, villas and cottages for many, many years. None has been so well-equipped. It has felt like home. Can I thank you again for your hospitality! We hope to come again.

May/June 2016, half term
The weather was amazing, we spent nearly every day on the beach. We changed every day from Aberdaron to Whistling Sands to our favourite that we found at Llanbedrog. The house was also perfect, we loved sitting out in the garden till late whilst the children played and we could have a few glasses of beer. It really did feel like home to us for the week.We will definitely revisit again at some point. I have mentioned to the others about the week next year and we are going to see. I loved the views from the house although I am sure it is different in the winter!!
Mr S and family and friends, Stockport.
We had a brilliant 6 days staying in your lovely house, & several blue sky, sunny days. Thank you so much for all the added touches – the flowers, the wine, the milk in the fridge. We all felt it was one of the best equipped houses we had ever stayed in. We made use of all the rooms except the 2nd floor bedrooms. We had a piano/ flute recital one evening, a board game evening in the little sitting room & fun playing pool & table tennis another day. We all loved the garden room & the views of the sea in all its many moods. We walked the coastal paths surrounded by bluebells & primroses, explored lots of beaches, played golf at Pwllheli, & had a trip to Bardsey with Colin on a perfect day. We saw lots of seals but only one puffin there. The sea pinks were lovely too. Enjoyed reading about R. S. Thomas in the church & had a delicious meal in the Ty Newydd… I could go on & on! We did have a problem with the microwave which got very hot externally & emitted a burning smell. We told Ceinwen who said there had been a problem with it once before. (NB This item has now been replaced – Ed.) We would all love to stay at Afallon again one day.
Mrs D and friends, Sheffield
Another superb holiday at Afallon, weather kind and a big thank you for the bonus Saturday…….the sun shone. It is such an amazing house in an amazing location. I have been coming to Aberdaron since I was 10 years old, and started staying at Afallon in 1999. It never disappoints. Everything you need and more for a family holiday, retreat or just to calm the soul. We shall return!
I. W-M, and family members.
Another lovely holiday at Afallon. It never disappoints. We have again had wonderful walks, the weather has been blustery, but we love a windy beach walk with the dogs. The teenagers are becoming a bit more reluctant for our walks, but do surf at Whistling Sands, which wears them out and they have also done some GCSE revision in the front room. The girls have had fun shooing the sheep back to the farm. New bakery is very nice and we had another lovely meal at the Ty Newydd. Thank you so much Liz for the use of your beautiful house.
The W, M and C families , Otley, West Yorkshire.
Thank you for a fantastic winter break – we were even blessed with beautiful weather. The house has everything and more besides. Lots of lovely dog-friendly beaches and a lovely pub in the village. We hope to return next year.

January weekend 2016
We stayed at Afallon for a long weekend in January. On arrival we were amazed! It surpassed all our expectations, with the size of the house its cleanliness, comfort and its so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location, gardens and views are stunning. The village is about a five minutes walk with shops, pubs and beach, but its a hike back up the hill. easier to take the car! Liz the owner is so attentive, answering all questions promptly and she is on the end of the phone if you need her during your stay. Would definitely recommend this house.
We’ve had an amazing Christmas in the beautiful Afallon. Perfect. The only thing missing was snow!
Mrs W and friends and dogs. Bury, Lancashire.
For a last minute break……WOW your house is just amazing. The location, views and homely feel have made our short break. We now have the bug and will return hopefully for a longer duration. Thanks for letting us stay and best regards.
The D’R and L families, Manchester and Swindon.
Your house is a palace from the past….beautiful old doors and locks, staircase and landings. Beautiful pictures, old games in cupboards. Fireplace, chairs so homely, and a piano to go with the views. What a family home you have. Thank you for your jewel of a house!
Mr. D’R, Manchester.
Thank you. We have had a fabulous week at lovely Afallon. Apparently we had THE best weather all year according to the locals. All I can say is that it felt just like home (I wish! as soon as we arrived, and none of us could believe the view that we woke to the next morning. The dogs loved the beaches and will all sleep well on the return journey! It was a long way to come, but well worth it – a little slice of Welsh heaven! Thanks for a really lovely time, the house was perfect for our family holiday and the views were stunning. I very much enjoyed the piano – thanks!
The P family, Camberley, Surrey.
We had a fantastic stay! We regularly holiday in Aberdaron but this is our first stay at Afallon – we usually camp! The house had everything we needed and more besides, and has enabled us to have a much more comfortable and stress-free holiday, with 3 generations staying together we have managed in this ample house to all enjoy our holiday- sometimes in a group enjoying games, and meals together, and when desired, in peace and away from the group. We have really appreciated the commanding ‘spot’ that this house offers, giving us superb views and peace from the pretty, but at times, busy village. The dogs and the children have enjoyed the garden immensely.
Mrs M, Rossendale, Lancashire.
15 of us aged 16 – 75, 5 from Woking, 10 from Telford. Huge success! Murder mystery party ‘The Murder of Lord Afallon’, piano recitals, card games, well-stocked kitchen, lovely dishes, catching crabs on the beach, laughing till we dropped from fun-filled days, comfy beds and bedding. A fantastic family holiday.
What an amazing place and an amazing week. Weather promised to be dire, but we’ve all left with a healthy glow and a renewed obsession with the sea. The kids have built a city of sand castles all around the coast, the dogs have swum and chased and swum and chased, the grownups have filled moats, laughed, loved the garden, (and the wine cooler!), and we have all reconnected in the best way. Slightly in love with Aberdaron and your lovely house. See you again.
The G and D families, Nottingham and Chester.
We have had a wonderful multi generational holiday with sun, sand, rain, walks(many), talks, and an introduction to boarding! It is a beautiful house and excellently equipped in every way. Thank you from us all.
The extended D family, Cheshire, and Mrs ff-J, Dorset.
May 2015, half-term
Well, about Afallon, what can I say ? We haven’t been to the house before. Everyone was totally impressed with the layout, the furnishings, all the facilities, the kitchen – I could go on for a long time. Suffice it to say that you haven’t forgotten a thing. We took loads of stuff needlessly because it was already there. Thanks also for sorting out the bedrooms to our advantage. We had a ball, the dog too! thank you.
Mr and Mrs A. H., children, grandchildren, and the dog!, Accrington, Lancs
Another wonderful week – hot and sunny every day. This fantastic house is a real home from hone (only better!). Thank you.
Mr and Mrs W and Adam, Derby.
We used Afallon as our base for our first attempt to climb Mount Snowdon with a group of friends. We had a most wonderful stay. The house is incredible. Everything you could possibly need is provided for. We were blessed with wonderful weather and will definitely come back and will recommend it to other friends and family.
Group: Snowdonia Daruwala
Once again (our 5th year) we had an amazing 2 weeks. The sun shone for us and the Lleyn once again delivered what we believe to be the most beautiful backdrop for any family holiday. Thank you.
The G family, London.
Best house I have stayed in during my many visits to Aberdaron. Wonderful views! What can I say? The children loved the house and the garden and as usual all the walks and beaches. That says it all I would love to come back again and enjoy it all. When I booked Afallon I thought I knew what to expect but the house and the gardens are far more. The view over the bay is fantastic,. There was nothing missing in the house, there was more than we needed, nothing lacking. The house has just been painted and looks great and is it quite clear that it is well-loved. I would love to come back again in the future. Thanks Liz from us all.
The B (extended) family from Sonderborg, Denmark, Chingford, Crouch End and Newbold-on-Stour, Warwickshire
A 3-generation family holiday to celebrate our 80 years of life and 60 years of marriage! We numbered 17 people, from 56 down to 4 years old. They swam, built sandcastles, canoed, fished (unsuccessfully), walked, biked, snorkelled and more. It was hot and sunny every day. However the best thing was that EVERONE enjoyed themselves. As for the house, we couldn’t believe our luck. It was perfect and we didn’t want for anything. Thank you!
Mrs and Mrs S
Thanks for a wonderful stay. The weather has been superb and Afallon the perfect home. We have all enjoyed the sand and the sea, but we had trouble getting the dogs out of the water! Thank you for the restaurant recommendations – they all lived up to your comments. Some fantastic walks too.
Mr and Mrs T plus our four dogs, Llanbedr, Ruthin
Wow! What a wonderful family holiday house. A perfect holiday enjoyed hugely by old and young alike. Aberdaron is very beautiful and Afallon’s marvellous location means truly fantastic views which are great to wake up to, especially if you have one of the front rooms. The weather was very kind and we walked, BBQ-ed, spent days on the beach and ate well in the local restaurants. We cannot understand why we have never been here before! Thank so much.
Families W, A, L and B from Warrington and Lymm, Cheshire
Afallon is a beautiful experience. From the glory of its environment to the excellence of provision of all practical needs, it is outstanding. Thank you for the joy of being here which has allowed spiritual refreshment.
Just a short break with the whole family to celebrate a 70th birthday. Had a great time made even better by the warm weather! 2 days of blue sky, light winds, and spent the first day out on the deck – fantastic! The house is perfect for a family get-together, a real home from home with everything you could wish for. Hope to return soon.

February 2014 – half term,
We arrived to a lovely warm house, after being a little worried whether the power would be on as Aberdaron was struck by 108mph winds just before we arrived. Liz had been onto them and fixed the missing tiles on the roof too. We couldn’t have wished for better weather. Blue skies, almost totally dry and not too windy. We did several beautiful walks: the headland walk from the door, an 11 mile from door to The Sun Inn, near Hells Mouth, a really lovely walk from Hells Mouth car park out onto the headland and back round, very impressive at furthest point – and lots of new work on the Coast track.
The 14 yr old boys had a great time in the surf at Whistling sands – just right for them, as surf at Hells mouth was well up and some of the experienced were finding it tough to get out!
The dogs thoroughly enjoyed all their walks.
The house looked lovely with its newly painted rooms and it was warm and toasty. We were looked after very well at the Ty Newydd, all 13 of us, not The Ship (as was being refurbed).
We look forward to visiting again very soon.

Lovely ‘boys’ week. Enjoyed Monopoly, sprinting on the beach (turns out Sandy is rather slow!). Ate well, mixture of cuisines, ranging from Tagine to Cottage Pie. We did well! Cheers and thanks. Great fun.
Andy, Luke, Sandy, Tony, Tom and Ed (and Joe!)
This wonderful house has worked its magic yet again!! We were not so fortunate with the weather this time, but still managed a few walks. Our trip to Bardsey was very enjoyable slightly marred by the rain later in the afternoon. Nonetheless we had a great time, saw lots of seals – they make such a mournful sound….. We have been very cosy and comfortable and as usual it has gone too quickly. We’ll miss the visitors to the lovely garden – 2 cheeky young rabbits, a wonderful flock of goldfinches, and many other types of birds (all eating the windfall apples and pears – what a fabulous crop this year!)
Mr and Mrs N W, Allestree, Derby.
We have been coming to the Lleyn Pensinsa for over 25 years. Have stayed in many cottages and houses, Afallon is one of the best, if not the best, we have ever stayed in. Absolutely outstanding area for all the family. Thanks for everything.
The G family, Liverpool.
We have visited Aberdaron for many years, but this is our first stay at Afallon. We have had a wonderful week here to celebrate my husband’s40th birthday. We can’t fault the house in any way. It is special, comfortable and has a totally relaxed atmosphere. The panoramic views top it all off. We will most certainly be back for the next family celebration, hopefully sooner rather than later!
The P family, the M family and Mr N. W, Cheshire and Devon.
It was a lovely stay, Great house, perfect size for all of us. Peaceful and quiet. The garden is big. We made good use of the extra facilities such as the BBQ and the pool table in the cellar. Such fun. Thank you so much – we have been coming here for many years!
PLUS the beaches around Aberdaron are amazing – Whistling Sands in particular.

We have had such a lovely few days here in the gorgeous sunshine. It has been so hot!! Thank you so much xx

A splendid week here to celebrate Karen’s special birthday. What a wonderful house, rather should we say ‘home’. It has been as if we were staying in someone’s home where every thought has been anticipated for what we might need – apart from champagne glasses! – but the merest quibble of a detail! – and hey ho, what is wrong with a large glass?!Amazing, views facilities, walks, as well as a trip to Bardsey – magical.
Thank you, Liz Evans, for such a welcome!
Kare, Anne, Carole, Elly, Helen E, and Helen J, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Three pilgrimages to Bardsey accomplished now. No need to go to Rome! We have had another wonderful time here and were so lucky with the weather!

A beautiful house, great views, lots of space for everyone. Having heard so much about Afallon and Aberdaron, it has been great to finally see it in person and to enjoy it all. Thanks Liz for a great weekend.

New Year 12/13
It’s maybe about our eighth year here and it’s still as good as it ever was. The views were as great as always. The piano was greatly enjoyed this year; there wasn’t a day it wasn’t played. We all absolutely love this house. Thank you very much for the last eight years.

October 2012 – half term
Your house is beautiful, very comfortable and made us feel very much at home. Everything one needed was available to us and the children loved the basement games room.
The weather all week was dry and bright, with glorious sunshine on three days upon which we sat outside in short sleeves – the Lleyn peninsula obviously has its own micro-climate.
The views from the property are to die for, the village is quaint and welcoming, and the surrounding area is a joy to walk.
We have already recommended Afallon to other members of the family, and sincerely hope that we get the opportunity to return next year.
Once again many thanks for a memorable stay.
Richard N and family
‘Many thanks for a wonderful week in your beautiful house. The setting is out of this world – we and the children enjoyed the spectacular views, especially waking up to the sound of baa-ing sheep and views across the fields and cliffs to the sea. We spent many enjoyable hours in the lovely gardens and ended most evenings on the sundeck and then retired to the comfortable garden room with yet more amazing views down to the beaches of Aberdaron. The house was equipped with all of the comforts to feel homely and all to a very high standard. The bedrooms were all bright and spacious and beautifully appointed. We were very sad to leave but look forward to spending more family holidays there before too long! Thanks again. x

“Wonderful winter weekend getaway from London”
“Four girlfriends and I were looking for a weekend getaway to escape London. We wanted something cosy and comfortable but with all the mod cons and with plenty to keep us occupied. Somewhere we could relax and read a good book in front of a fire, go for long walks, chat over endless cups of tea and enjoy a good bottle of wine over supper.
Afallon was perfect! It was everything we wanted for our break but we left wishing we had more time to explore the area and relax in front of the fire.
The photographs really do not do the house or location justice. The house sits on the top of the cliff overlooking Aberdaron bay – on a sunny morning it was wonderful to wake up to uninterrupted, panoramic views of the bay. The house has the best of both worlds, as not only do you feel like you are completely removed from the hustle of daily life, but you can easily walk down the lane to the village where there is a Spar, post office, pub, coffee shop, and of course the beach. I would say that you do really need a car to explore the area and bring some supplies with you. It also means you can drive through Snowdonia National Park en route which is beautiful.
Driving from London for a long weekend, the last thing we wanted was to haul lots of equipment with us and having experienced many holiday lets where, half way through cooking I discover that we only have the most basic of kitchen tools, it was great to find the house so well equipped. I challenge you to find something that is not in that kitchen! It really was like home from home. In addition the house was spotless and well looked after.
The house is spacious but strangely, despite being a smaller group, we did not feel like we were rattling around. The nature of the property means you can utilise only parts of the house, effectively shutting off the second floor. We spent most of our time in the main living room or the dining room, although breakfast in the sun room overlooking the bay is a must! However because the circulation space is generous and there are a number of reception rooms, it’s easy to see how a larger group would not be crowded. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and her family clearly enjoy the house and the area so much themselves that you will find a warm and well-loved house to greet you.”
Lady from Clapham, London.
My Favourite Place – Afallon
“I first came to this house, Afallon, twelve years ago. I had stayed in other places in Aberdaron – but this is truly different. The problem is that I don’t really want to tell you how beautiful it is, because I still want to be able to go there myself! Aberdaron village is about as far west as you can go without falling into the Irish Sea. It’s on a narrow peninsula surrounded on three sides by sea, and the climate, sunshine and air are remarkable. There is a beautiful long beach at Aberdaron, with many others nearby – almost all uncrowded. Walking here is a delight – whether on the coastal path, along the beach or across the rolling countryside – and almost everywhere you walk you can still see the white walls of Afallon! Don’t expect any entertainment or facilities like cinemas or bowling alleys – you’re in the wrong place. Great pubs nearby. But if you want to experience fresh air, walking and the sea then this is it. Take the family, friends, write a book or do nothing! The house itself is a joy. Well-proportioned farmhouse rooms, fireplaces, new kitchen and numerous facilities make it a huge place where you can be friendly, but also get some quiet space as well. There is a large driveway and garage ideal for sailing boats, excellent gardens for football and games, fantastic barbecue areas – in fact there’s not much missing. The views from the house out over Aberdaron Bay towards the islands are addictive. The owner has always been excellent – I feel like a family friend. Please don’t tell anybody else about this place.”
